Degenerative spondylolisthesis occurs when the joints weaken, allowing a vertebra to slip forward, pinching nerve roots and causing pain to radiate to the legs and feet. Isthmic spondylolisthesis occurs when vertebral bone fractures, allowing a vertebra to slip forward.
